Stand-in attorney Eric Berman told the court that defense attorney Bradley MacFee was not ready for his client, Daquan Maliek Allen’s jury trial on July 18.
The jury trial was supposed to start before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Yolanda A. Tanner on Tuesday. Instead Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn approved a postpone request filed by Berman.
Judge Phinn set the trial for Dec. 6 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge M. Brooke Murdock. The trial is expected to last three days.
According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Allen, 24, is charge with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of robbery, two counts each of first and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person, discharging a firearm, firearm possession with a felony conviction, and illegal ammunition possession in connection to a April 24, 2022 incident.
Charging documents state that occurred on the 2500 block of Eutaw Place. Allen is accused of pulling a gun and threatening to shoot two victims during a robbery. Two shots were fired but no one was injured. Body camera footage of the responding officer was used to identify Allen as the suspect.
