Eastern District Officers Make Arrest in Bartlett Avenue Shooting Homicide Investigation

In reference to the homicide that occurred on May 14, in the Eastern District, investigators have arrested 21-year-old Montrez Cherry-Braxton of Baltimore.

Investigators learned that Cherry-Braxton shot and killed 18-year-old Jamal Martin while on the 2300 block of Homewood Avenue.

Detectives arrested Montrez Cherry-Braxton on June 13, and transported him to Central Booking Intake Facility where he has been charged with first-degree murder.

On the night of the incident, at approximately 9:22 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Bartlett Avenue for a ShotSpotter alert.

Upon arrival, officers located Martin suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

The Martin was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
