On April 23, at approximately 12:09 p.m., Southern District patrol officers with the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) responded to an Anne Arundel County Hospital for a reported walk-in shooting victim seeking treatment.

Once at the hospital, officers observed a 40-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the left knee. The victim has non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was in the 1500 block of Cypress Street on April 22, between 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. when an unknown suspect shot him. The victim didn’t seek medical attention at the time of the incident.

Detectives gathered evidence, including video footage, which showed the incident as it transpired.

Detectives identified the shooter and obtained an arrest warrant on May 2.

Later on May 2, members of the Warrant Task Force arrested 19-year-old Rholand Gooden in the 4200 block of Pennington in connection with this incident.

Gooden was transported to the Southern District, where detectives interviewed him, and then to Central Booking where he has since been charged with first-degree attempted murder.
