A man accused of fatally shooting 13-year-old Kelsey Washington last November is expected to receive his trial date this May.
During reception court on April 25, the prosecution and defense attorney Jason Silverstein requested Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn push Tavon Battle’s hearing to May 15 when they will schedule the defendant’s trial.
Judge Phinn granted counsel’s request.
According to Baltimore Police, the 35-year-old defendant allegedly shot Washington on Nov. 7, 2022, on the 1400 block of E. Fayette Street. Washington was declared brain dead five days later and died on Nov. 14.
