On Jan. 25, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gale E. Rasin postponed a hearing for a convicted homicide defendant due to the defense attorney’s absence.
During Wednesday’s hearing, Judge Rasin read a medical report that found defendant Lamont Mealy competent to be sentenced.
Stand-in defense attorney Sharon Bogins requested for the case to be postponed a week, so Mealy’s defense attorney Sharon May could be present.
The 51-year-old defendant’s next mental health court hearing is scheduled for Feb. 1.
In December 2022, defendant Mealy was found guilty of first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, possessing a firearm with a felony conviction and making a false statement to a police officer in connection to an incident that occurred on Aug. 5, 2020.
According to court documents, on the day of the incident, officers responded to the 700 block of Whitelock Street when blood was found on an apartment door handle. Andie Wilson, 60, was found suffering from gunshot wounds on the floor.
