Southeast District 2008 Shooting Upgraded to a Homicide

On March 22, 2008, at approximately 5:44 a.m., Antwan Horton who was 21-years-old at the time, was shot in the 500 block of N. Decker Street as he returned home from the store. Detectives learned this incident was a robbery gone bad.

As a result of being shot, Horton was rendered paralyzed.

On March 10, 2023, homicide detectives were notified by the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences at Dallas, TX, that Antwan Horton, now 35, died on August 25, 2022. They concluded that Horton died as a direct result of being shot back in March of 2008.

This incident has been upgraded to a homicide and has been closed by exception by the State’s Attorney’s Office.
