Attempted murder charges against 21-year-old Rayvon Timmons were dropped on March 9 when the defendant and the victim refused to testify against one another in their respective cases.
Stemming from an incident on Aug. 9, 2022, Timmons was charged with first and second-degree attempted murder and first and second-degree assault as well as two weapons charges, theft, and reckless endangerment. A cross-complaint was filed against 24-year-old Kamiyah Jones, who was charged with first and second-degree assault, obstruction and making a false statement to an officer in a separate case.
Defense attorneys Marci Johnson and Justin Hollimon, representing Timmons and Jones, respectively, informed Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn that both defendants in each case asserted their Fifth Amendment right not to testify against one another.
The prosecution responded that he would not have any corroborative evidence given this decision, and both parties motioned for judgment of acquittal, which Judge Phinn granted.
Earlier in the proceeding, the prosecution put a plea offer on the record for Timmons that included five years for first-degree assault.
