A Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge scheduled a defendant’s retrial on Feb. 10 for a 2021 homicide.
In September, defendant Levar Cooper’s trial ended in a mistrial for the murder of 43-year-old Larry Alvin Randall Jr. in Pigtown on May 10, 2021.
Cooper informed Judge Melissa M. Phinn on Friday that he will hire private counsel before his retrial is set to begin. Cooper was formally represented by Catherine Flynn.
Cooper, 45, faces charges of first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle on a public road, and possessing a firearm with a felony conviction.
Cooper is expected to start trial on July 10 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Christopher L. Panos.
