Woman Charged in Non-Fatal Shooting Given Trial Date

On Feb. 10, a Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge set a trial date for a Fort Washington woman facing attempted-murder charges.

The assistant state’s attorney standing in during the reception court hearing offered Marika Crawford and her attorney Karyn Meriweather, a plea offer of life, suspending all but 50 years for attempted first-degree murder and a concurrent sentence of 20 years, suspending all but five years without the possibility of parole for first-degree assault. The defendant would have also been required to stay away from the victim and register as a gun offender.

Cawford, 27, rejected the plea.

Judge Melissa Phinn scheduled the defendant’s trial to begin on July 11 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Nicole Baremore.

According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Crawford is charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, armed robbery, robbery, first and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, reckless endangerment, theft valuing between $100 and $1,500, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun in a vehicle, and discharging firearms in connection with an incident on July 20, 2022.
