Questionable Death of Man on Fire Reported in Central District

The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) are investigating the death of a man on Dec. 22, who they believed to be homeless.

On Thursday, at approximately 2:42 a.m., police and fire personnel responded to the 400 block of Guilford Avenue, for a report of a person on fire.

Once there, emergency personnel located an unidentified adult male, pronouncing him deceased.

Preliminary investigation revealed that witnesses were awakened by the sound of a person in distress. Witnesses went to investigate when they located the adult male victim on fire. In an effort to put out the flames, witnesses covered the victim in blankets until fire personnel arrived on the scene.

The victim’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death and to identify the victim.

Homicide detectives are currently investigating this death as questionable.
