Counsel is nearing a plea agreement with an attempted homicide defendant Damon Martin, the prosecutor informed Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn on Dec. 13.

During reception court on Tuesday, the assistant state’s attorney assigned to the case informed the court that she and defense attorney Marc Minkove needed to “iron things out” in regard to the plea and that they did not want to put the offer on the record at this time.

The prosecutor added that she does anticipate this case to be resolved in the new year, with the case returning to reception court on Jan. 13, 2023.

The 23-year-old defendant, who is charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and multiple weapons charges, was released on home detention in October in connection to the shooting of a 19-year-old man on the 3000 block of Monument Street on Jan. 24. The victim was shot multiple times.
