On Oct. 11, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Cynthia H. Jones postponed a hearing for a defendant requesting a new trial.
During the hearing on Tuesday, defense attorney Lawrence Rosenberg informed the court that he had filed a motion for a new trial for his client Corey Pointer. Both Rosenberg and the prosecutor requested a postponement, which Judge Jones swiftly granted.
In July, Pointer, 26, was found guilty of first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, robbery, possession with intent to distribute, and second-degree assault and firearm use during a drug trafficking crime.
All five charges related to a violent 2021 incident, in which Pointer was accused of assaulting and shooting a woman over a marijuana debt on the 500 block of Normandy Avenue.
Pointer is scheduled to appear again for sentencing on Nov. 7.
