A Baltimore man found guilty of first-degree murder had his collateral hearing postponed on Nov. 9 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Paul Cucuzzella.
On Dec. 6, 2007, Paul Barton was convicted of second-degree murder. He was sentenced to 30 years, suspending all but 13 years with five years supervised probation for second-degree murder, and 20 years, suspending all but 13 years with five years supervised probation for the use of a handgun while committing a crime in connection to an incident on April 26, 2006.
The prosecutor informed the court that Barton, 41, had a pending assault charge that is scheduled to be heard in reception court in November.
Judge Cucuzzella noted that he would await the outcome of the assault hearing and then continue with the homicide case.
Barton’s next hearing is scheduled on Nov. 29 for the pending assault charge.
