“She not only killed my son, she put others lives in danger,” said the mother of Darius Gore during the sentencing of the woman now convicted for her son’s murder.
On Nov. 1, homicide defendant Delisa Dello-Stritto was sentenced to 10 years in prison before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Charles Blomquist.
Dello-Stritto, 30, was sentenced to 10 years, suspending all but five years with five years supervised probation for vehicular manslaughter; and two concurrent time served for both counts of traffic violations in connection to an incident on March 21, 2020, that resulted in the death of 28-year-old Darius Gore.
The defendant had an additional assault charge nolle pros by the prosecution.
According to court documents, at 9:13 p.m., officers were called to the 3600 block of Liberty Heights Avenue for reports of a multiple-vehicle collision resulting in injury. The crash happened at the intersection of Liberty Heights Avenue and Calloway Avenue.
“He wouldn’t have been killed if he wasn’t doing a good deed for a neighbor,” said the victim’s mother during her impact statement. She described her son as loving and caring and grieved the fact that she had no grandchildren by her eldest.
Dello-Stritto gave an impact statement apologizing for the incident. “I wish peace for your family.”
Judge Blomquist closed the hearing and addressed the defendant saying, “You took somebody’s life because of your actions. You have affected many people’s lives.”
