Prosecutors did not have a plea to offer a second-degree murder defendant up for retrial during reception court on Oct. 26 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
The prosecution said they planned to get defendant Laser Womack an offer in advance of his postponed retrial in one of the cases against him regarding a shooting on March 3, 2014, on the 3800 block of 8th Street in Brooklyn.
According to the Baltimore State’s Attorney’s Office, Womack was sentenced in 2016 to 80 years, suspending all but 40 years, and five years probation, for his alleged involvement in a triple shooting that left one person dead.
Womack is charged with second-degree murder and having a handgun on his person. In the other two cases, Womack is charged with attempted second-degree murder and having a handgun on his person.
He is represented by attorneys Amanda Savage and Stephanie Salter.
Judge Phinn scheduled Womack’s new trial date for April 3, 2023, and is expected to last four days before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge John Howard.
