29-Year-Old Man Arrested for the Attempted Murder of an 18-Year-Old Teen

A 29-year-old man has been arrested for the attempted murder on an 18-year-old male teen on Sept. 21. 

The Baltimore Police Department has reported the arrest of Kinard Smith, 29, after the incident on the 1300 block of N. Fremont Avenue, where an 18-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot to the leg. 

Western District shooting detectives investigated this incident. Physical evidence was collected and numerous people were interviewed. In a short amount of time, detectives were able to identify the shooter and obtain an arrest warrant.

On Sept. 27, detectives spotted the suspect Smith driving his work truck on Lafayette Avenue at Druid Hill Avenue. The detective followed the vehicle into the 1000 block of N. Mount Street, where he radioed members of the Western District DAT Unit, who pulled the vehicle over.

Smith was placed under arrest, without incident as well as found to be in possession of a loaded handgun, which was seized and submitted as evidence.

Following his arrest, Smith was taken to Central Booking, where is being held without bail and has been charged with first-degree attempted murder and separate handgun violations.
