A man charged with attempted murder rejected a 20-year plea on Sept. 19 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Davon Holmes is charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle, discharging firearms, and illegal possession of ammo in connection to an incident on Oct. 3, 2021.
Holmes, 29, and his defense attorney Roland Harris rejected a plea of 20 years, suspending all but five years with the possibility of parole and three years probation for first-degree assault.
Under the plea, the defendant would have been ordered to stay away from the victim.
According to Fox Baltimore, on Oct. 3, 2021, Holmes went to his girlfriend’s home on the 5000 block of Queensberry Avenue when he got into an argument with a man inside her residence. Holmes allegedly retrieved a gun from his car and shot the 29-year-old victim.
Holmes’ trial is scheduled for Nov. 3.
