Baltimore Woman Has Case Nolle Pros

A 29-year-old Baltimore woman had her case nolle pros by the prosecutor on Aug. 18, before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.

Latoya Hicks was charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a felony violent crime and reckless endangerment in connection to the shooting of a man on the 4700 block of Wakefield Road on Jan. 23.

The prosecutor entered a nolle pros due to the defendant having an alibi for the day of the shooting. Hick’s attorney Andrea Jaskulsky provided the court with documents in April that proved Hicks was receiving in-patient treatment at Sheppard Pratt Hospital at the time of the shooting.

Despite not facing charges for the January incident, Hicks plead guilty to first-degree assault during mental health court on Wednesday in connection with a separate incident on Feb. 9. According to her attorney, Hicks got into an argument with a man and began throwing clothes off a balcony. In video footage, the victim can be seen hiding behind a car when a gun belonging to Hicks accidentally goes off while she threw the clothes.

She was sentenced to 8 years in prison, suspending all but time served with three years supervised probation.
