Shootings Increase by More than 50% in First Half of May

From May 1 to May 16, Baltimore Witness has recorded approximately 34 non-fatal shootings, surpassing the 22 non-fatal shootings recorded in April.

Compared to the previous six months, shootings, although not reaching the number of non-fatal shootings during the first half of October 2021, have crept back into the thirties.

There have been six mass shootings across the city in that time. Four people have died as a result of the shootings.

Homicides in May were lower with a count of 12 compared to the 15 homicides recorded during the first half of April.
