Shooting Defendant Takes 12-Year Plea Deal

A 38-year-old Baltimore man pleaded guilty to robbery, assault, and handgun use during a crime of violence on April 13 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Cynthia H. Jones.

George Herbert Ashe, who was represented by defense attorney Janet Andersen, was originally charged with robbery and theft, multiple counts of assault, reckless endangerment, false imprisonment, and 11 weapons charges for a non-fatal shooting that occurred on Feb. 5, 2021.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, Ashe accepted the prosecution’s plea deal of 12 years, the first five years without parole, for robbery, first-degree assault, and handgun use during a crime of violence.

Last November, Ashe rejected an offer of 18 years, the first five years without parole, for robbery, first-degree assault, and handgun use during a crime of violence before Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
