Non-Fatal Shooting Defendant has Trial Scheduled for September

On Feb. 1, a 36-year-old Baltimore man accused of a non-fatal shooting has a trial scheduled for September.

The Baltimore resident is charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm in a violent crime, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, having a handgun on his person, discharging a handgun within Baltimore city, and two counts of carrying a handgun 100 yards in Baltimore city in connection to an incident on April 18, 2019.

During reception court on Tuesday, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of 50 years suspending all but 18 years with three years supervised probation for first-degree attempted murder and 8 years, the first five without parole, with three years supervised probation for use of a firearm during a violent crime. The charges are set to run concurrently.

The defendant and his defense attorney, Staci Pipkin, rejected the plea offer.
The defendant’s trial is scheduled for Sept. 12 with Judge Phillip S. Jackson presiding.
