Judge Schedules Murder Trial in August

A Baltimore man accused of homicide rejected a plea offer on Jan. 6 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn

Jamal Kingsborough, 27, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and use of a firearm in a violent crime in connection to an incident on May 21, 2021.

On Thursday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of life for first-degree murder. Kingsborough and his defense attorney, Michael Cooper, rejected the plea offer. 

According to the Baltimore Sun, on May 21, 2021, Baltimore Police Department officers were called to the 200 block of W. Lexington Street for reports of shots fired and found 34-year-old Tony Hegspeth suffering from gunshot wounds.   

Kingsborough’s trial is scheduled for Aug. 15.
