A non-fatal shooting case is set to head back to reception court in Aprill of 2022.

Rumondo Wise, 32, is charged with armed robbery, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, firearm us during a felony-violent crime, conspiracy to use a firearm during a felony-violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, firearm possession, carry or wear handgun on person, and discharging a handgun within the city. The incident he is being charged for occurred on March 30, 2020.

On Monday, a prosecutor, who was standing in for another prosecutor who had to take an emergency medical leave, asked Judge Melissa Copeland for a postponement. The prosecutor who initially had the case is not expected to return until sometime next year.

A February trial date was initially suggested, but the date was closed when an April date was decided.

However, Wise’s defense attorney, Amy Stone, said the April date was too far away. Wise has been incarcerated since June of 2020.

Judge Copeland scheduled the April trial date, suggesting that defense counsel email to the prosecutors on the case and the respective judge to see if an earlier date could be set.
