A Baltimore woman who was allegedly involved in a non-fatal shooting rejected a plea Dec. 1 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn

Dara Kent, 38, is charged with first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a firearm during a violent crime, discharging a firearm within the city, having a handgun in her vehicle, having a handgun on her person, having a loaded handgun in her vehicle, having a loaded handgun on her person, malicious destruction of property value of more than $1000 in connection to an incident on Feb. 13. 

Judge Phinn listened as the prosecution presented a plea of 10 years suspending all but five years with three years probation for first-degree assault and five years without parole for second-degree assault, the charges are scheduled to run concurrently.

Kent and her defense attorney, Marci Johnson, rejected the plea.

In addition, Kent decided to maintain her Dec. 1 Hicks ‘ date, which is her right to be tried within 180 days of her first court appearance. 

However, the judge still decided to schedule Kent’s trial for March 31, 2022.
