Police Arrest 38-Year-Old Man in Connection to September Homicide

The Baltimore Police Department has arrested a 38-year-old Baltimore man in connection to a homicide in September.

Police announced the arrest of Christopher Thornton on Nov. 22. Thornton is alleged to have fatally shot 42-year-old Daevon Lee on Sept. 27 on the 1800 block of N. Chapel Street.

He is charged with first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun on his person, and discharging a firearm in Baltimore City, according to the Maryland Judiciary website.

Police previously reported that officers responded to the scene around 1:15 p.m. on Sept. 27 when they found a man, later identified as Lee, with multiple gunshot wounds to his head.

Lee was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital and pronounced dead.

On Monday, police said Thornton was interviewed following his arrest and then taken to Central Booking where he is being held without bail.

The Maryland Judiciary website states that Thornton is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 7 in Baltimore City District Court.
