Attempted Homicide Case Postponed to March 2022

An attempted homicide defendant’s case was postponed until next year to give him and his defense counsel time to review discovery as well as a plea offer from the prosecution.

Antione Massey, 23, is charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, conspiracy to first-degree murder, conspiracy to first and second-degree assault, conspiracy to firearm use in a felony violent crime, and two counts of reckless endangerment.

Shore News Network reported that Massey was arrested in connection to the non-fatal shooting of a man on the 2000 block of West Pratt Street on April 22.

On Nov. 10, Massey appeared in reception court alongside defense attorney Euphus Belu-John and was offered a plea of life, suspending all but 15 years, the first five years without parole, and five years of supervised probation for attempted first-degree murder and firearm use in a felony violent crime.

Belu-John informed Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn that he recently received discovery in the case on Nov. 9 and was hearing the offer for the first time. He then requested the case return to reception court at a later date after his client waived his Hick’s date, referring to his right to be tried within 180 days of his or his attorney’s first court appearance.

Judge Phinn scheduled the case for reception court on March 11, 2022.
