A manslaughter case is set to return to reception court after defense counsel requested a postponement on Nov. 3 at the Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Levar Shedrick, 37, is charged with manslaughter by boat or automobile and criminally negligent manslaughter by vehicle or vessel for the death of Carnella Gibson in an incident on Nov. 28, 2018.
On Wednesday, Shedrick’s case was originally set to start trial, but defense attorney Shomari Taylor requested a postponement before Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer. The attorney said he received new data files that needed to be examined by the defense’s expert witness.
Taylor said the postponement would provide the necessary time for the expert witness to review the newly submitted discovery.
Judge Schiffer granted the request and the case will return to reception court; however, a date was not specified.
Editor’s note: the defendant was found not guilty on July 12.
