Teen Charged With Murder Rejects Plea Offer

A teenager charged with murder rejected a plea offer and had a trial date set during reception court on Oct. 19 at Baltimore City Circuit Court. 

Matthew Caldwell, 19, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of firearm use in the commission of a crime, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault in connection with an incident on May 5, 2020.

Caldwell has a total of five active cases against him, including the shooting of a Royal Farms clerk during a robbery on May 12, 2020, according to WBAL.

The prosecution offered a plea of life for one count of first-degree murder. 

This plea was rejected by Caldwell and his attorneys Brian Levy and Jeremy Zacker. A trial was set for April 19, 2022.
