Judge Denies Bail for 19-Year-Old Charged with Attempted Murder

A Baltimore man charged in connection to a non-fatal shooting on July 4, 2020, was denied bail on Sept. 10 in Baltimore City Circuit Court before Judge Yolanda A. Tanner.

Darius Partlow, 19, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a violent crime, reckless endangerment, possession of firearm as a minor, and unauthorized handgun on person.

According to the prosecution, the victim was attempting to purchase drugs from Partlow, when a dispute occurred and the victim drove away, resulting in Partlow shooting four rounds of ammunition in the direction of the vehicle.

The victim was shot in the neck.

After treatment at a local hospital, the victim identified Partlow in a photo lineup of suspects provided by the Baltimore Police Department.

According to defense attorney Charlton Benjamin, Partlow has no previous criminal record, and was homeless at the time.

Defense asked the judge to grant Partlow home detention. He would reside with his mother.

But, Judge Tanner found Partlow to be a danger to his home and the community, and denied bail.

The defendant’s case is scheduled for reception court on Jan. 12.
