The case of a Baltimore man charged with first-degree murder was called but not discussed during reception court on Aug. 24, despite being scheduled on the Baltimore City Circuit Court’s docket.
In addition to a murder charge, Danjuan McBride, 24, is also charged with firearm use in a violent crime and two counts of firearm possession with a felony conviction.
On Tuesday, the prosecution called McBride’s case before Judge Melissa M. Phinn; however, defense attorney Filia Morgan-Xavier was not present. The Maryland Judiciary website currently has McBride’s case scheduled to return to reception court on Oct. 19.
In August 2020, the Baltimore Sun reported that McBride allegedly shot and killed 32-year-old Tavonte Briggs on the 300 block of Franklintown around 1 p.m. on July 25, 2020. Briggs was taken to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead.
