A Baltimore City jury found Marvin Ortiz, 25, not guilty of all four charges against him in connection with a March 2026 shooting on Quantril Way. The verdict was reached on Oct. 22 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Anthony Vittoria.
Ortiz was found not guilty of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony or violent crime, and discharging a firearm. The charge of having a handgun in a vehicle was dismissed.
According to the charging documents, officers responded to a shooting at a residence on the 1200 block of Quantril Way around 2:30 am on March 19. Officers found a juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound to the butt and recovered 12 shell casings of two different calibers near the residence.
Investigators later encountered a white Honda Accord with visible gunshot damages near East Fayette Street. The vehicle’s occupants told officers they had been shot at on Quantril Way.
According to the charging documents, the shooting stemmed from a dispute over a dirt bike. The driver of the Honda told detectives that he went to the residence with Ortiz and others to retrieve the bike. He alleged that the juvenile began shooting at the vehicle and that Ortiz began to shoot back.
The juvenile later told detectives that he had fired at the Honda and that Ortiz shot back. Investigators subsequently recovered a handgun from the residence.
Defense attorney Robert Frank represented Ortiz.
