Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Robert H.Taylor Jr on Sept 25 allowed the prosecution to continue to withhold information about a witness from 19-year-old defendant Nathaniel Lightford III and his counsel.
The concern is that witness safety could be in jeopardy because the defendant may have ties to a drug trafficking gang.
Lightford is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony or violent crime and handgun on person.
According to charging documents, on January 14, 2026, at approximately 9:15pm, patrol officers responded to a call for a reported firearm discharge at 2500 block of Terra Firma Road. Upon arrival, officers observed an adult male victim, later identified as Cintron A. Allen, lying in the roadway, unconscious and unresponsive. Despite medical intervention, Lynn was pronounced deceased moments later in a homicide.CCTV and area surveillance camera footage captured the shooting as well as the events before and after.
Approximately two hours before the shooting, at 8:58pm, there was a verbal and physical altercation among a group of men in the 2500 block of Terra Firma Road. The victim appeared to throw a punch at one of the individuals.
After the confrontation, investigators noted that a black Tesla arrived in the 2500 block of Terra Firma Road, parked for short periods of time, and then left the area. The car appeared on camera multiple times during the night, including right before the murder occurred.
Shortly thereafter, the victim is observed arguing with four members of the group while standing in front of the Happy Family Mart located at 700 Cherry Hill Road, Baltimore, MD, which is one mile away from tthe homicide. One of the four men standing outside of the Happy Mart would later be positively identified by a witness as a person said to be LightFord III after being shown photographs from the Happy Family Mart CCTV footage.
The footage reportedly tracks Nathaniel Lightford III back to the crime scene at 2500 block of Terra Firma Road just before the homicide. He is said to arrive in a white Acura at 9:01pm.
The aforementioned black Tesla is also on scene. At approximately 9:03pm, video footage shows that the suspect exits the rear of the white Acura, approaches the victim, and shoots him from behind. The suspect ran into an adjacent alley, while the Acura and Tesla both sped away from the area in different directions.
Additional area cameras on Joseph Avenue, which connects to the 2300 block Terra Firma Road, has footage of a vehicle matching the description of the black Tesla traveling southbound on Joseph Avenue approximately 30 seconds later. A witness from Joseph Avenue advised police that they observed a black sedan pick up two individuals and turn onto Veronica Street at this same time; the same witness provided video footage of a black sedan speeding down Joseph Avenue as well. Veronica Street is connected to the 2900 block of Joseph Avenue and is connected to the route of travel of the black Tesla.
A witness to the two suspects getting into a dark colored vehicle on Joseph Avenue just after the shooting positively identified the defendant as one of the individuals who entered the dark colored vehicle that evening on the 2900 block of Joseph Avenue after the shooting.
During the hearing the prosecution argued that providing the defense attorney with access and information about her witnesses would put them at risk. Witness testimony from two detectives in the case also revealed that the defendant’s father allegedly has loose ties to a drug trafficking ring that operates in the vicinity of the crime. .
A jail call between the defendant’s father and an unknown individual played during the hearing revealed plans to get a potential witness referred to as “nephew” and “best friend” to say nothing to the police.
The defense attorney stressed that all the prosecution could not establish a credible connection between threats or potential threats made and his client thus he should be privy to witness information.
Judge Taylor said he would pass a ruling by next week but in the meantime the prosecution is allowed to withhold witness access and information from the defense.
