On Sept. 16, a trial date was set to occur at the end of the year for a Baltimore resident accused of a non-fatal shooting in 2026.
Raymond Smith, 32, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, assault, conspiracy to commit assault, reckless endangerment, and several firearm charges for a nonfatal shooting that occurred on April 4.
Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melisa Copeland set the trial to start on Dec. 10 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeffery Geller.
According to charging documents, Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers responded to the 100 block of N Schroeder Street for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, police located 12 cartridge casings. No victim was at the scene.
At approximately 2:58 am, police were notified of a walk-in shooting victim at a nearby hospital, suffering from gunshot wounds to the torso, shoulder area, and abdomen, according to the documents.
Surveillance footage enabled detectives to confirm the victim was from the earlier shooting.
