An attempted murder defendant rejected a plea deal on Sept.15 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland.
Ronald Taylor, 48, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, assault, and several firearms charges for his alleged involvement in a nonfatal shooting on June 21, 2025.
He rejected the plea offer for 60 years, suspending all but 30 years and five years of supervised probation for attempted first-degree murder, and 5 years without parole for a firearms charge. The sentences were slated to run concurrently.
According to court documents, on June 21, 2025, Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers responded to a walk-in shooting victim at Johns Hopkins Hospital. The victim’s brother stated that he and the victim were in a verbal argument with several unknown females on the 600 block of S. Broadway Street.
During the argument, an unknown male allegedly arrived in a vehicle, shot the victim twice, and fled in the same vehicle. Through CCTV footage, BPD detectives identified Taylor as a person of interest on Aug. 28, 2025. He was later positively identified as the suspect on April 16.
The prosecution said the disclosure of evidence is complete, and she has been in contact with witnesses. She said she expects to have five witnesses at the trial.
Taylor’s defense attorney, Tyler Mann, said disclosure for evidence was obtained.
The trial is set to take place on Nov. 17 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Yolanda A. Tanner.
