Regarding a Western District shooting investigation on August 15, 2026, the case has been upgraded to a homicide. Here’s the updated information:
On August 15, 2026, at approximately 3:26 p.m., Western District Officers responded to 400 block of
W. Lafayette Avenue in reference to a ShotSpotter alert and a call of a reported shooting.
Once on scene, officers located a 24-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. The unidentified victim was
transported to area hospitals, listed in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, he died.
Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and are asking anyone with information related to this
