A Baltimore man was offered and rejected a plea deal on July 13 for the domestic murder of, Deonyaye Johnson, 26.
Timothy Shearn, 28 has been charged with murder, assault, and multiple firearm violations in connection with Johnson’s murder on Sept. 9, 2025 at the corner of N. Arlington Avenue and Riggs Avenue.
The rejected plea included a life sentence with 60 years suspended and five years of supervised probation.
According to charging documents, police responded to the scene where they located an adult male with a gunshot wound to his head. Investigators recovered six 9mm shell casings, one fragmented projectile, one iPhone, one $5 bill, a red baseball cap and a lime electric bike.
Johnson was allegedly identified at the scene and transported to shock trauma at the University of Maryland where he was pronounced dead.
Prior to the shooting, Shearn was having a verbal dispute with his former partner on N. Arlington Avenue. Then, Shearn allegedly reached into his backpack, displayed a gun and pointed it at her. She fled to her car, flagged down the police and alerted them of the situation.
Later that night, she returned to the corner of N. Arlington Avenue and Riggs Avenue to meet with her current partner ,Johnson, who traveled there using a lime bike. While she was talking to family members of Shearn, Johnson and Shearn appeared to have a verbal confrontation.
Shearn allegedly went into a residence on the 1000 block of N. Arlington Avenue, returned to the corner of N. Arlington Avenue and Riggs Avenue, shot Johnson and fled.
A witness identified Shearn as the person who allegedly pulled the gun.
Jury selection began before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Hope Tipton today. The trial is set to continue throughout the week.
