20-Year-Old Moped Driver Killed After Fleeing From Traffic Stop in Seton Hill

The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred in the Central District.

On July 2, at approximately 11:25 p.m., an officer was flagged down on the 600 block of W. Franklin Street in reference to a crash involving a moped.

Officers arrived on scene and located the driver of the moped, a 20-year-old man. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation revealed that an officer had initiated a traffic stop involving two mopeds on the 100 block of N. Eutaw Street.

One of the moped drivers fled from officers, who did not pursue. The other driver stopped. The driver that fled the stop later crashed into a brick wall on the 600 block of W. Franklin Street and was ejected from the vehicle.

BPD Crash Team investigators responded to the scene and assumed control over the investigation.
