The last of three defendants in an armed Seton Hill home invasion took a plea deal on June 23 before Baltimore City Circuit Judge Lawrence P. Fletcher-Hill.
Brian Strawder, 34, is charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, assault, conspiracy, and home invasion in connection to the incident, which occurred late night on Oct. 19, 2023.
The two other defendants, Kateira Womack, 33, and Phillip McCoy, 34, previously accepted pleas. Womack pleaded guilty in November 2024 to one count of conspiracy in exchange for time served. McCoy pleaded guilty to first-degree assault in 2025, accepting a sentence of 25 years, suspending all but eight.
Charging documents state that on the night of the incident, police officers responded to a residence on the 800 block of N. Eutaw Street for a report of a home invasion and shooting. A man who shared the home with the victim reportedly invited Womack into the property that evening. As Womack was leaving, the man turned around to see Strawder and McCoy coming toward him. The witness and victim allegedly ran up the stairs to escape when the victim was shot twice in the thigh.
On Tuesday, Strawder pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and firearm use. For the assault charge, Strawder is set to serve 25 years, suspending all but eight, followed by five years of probation. Three years will be supervised.
For firearm use, Strawder will serve five years without possibility of parole, which will run concurrent to the eight-year sentence. Strawder’s remaining 30 charges were dismissed as part of the deal.
He has been in custody since December 2023, and will receive credit for time served.
As part of his plea deal, Strawder msut stay away from the victim.
Defense attorney Avrohom Greenfield asked Judge Fletcher-Hill if Strawder can relocate to Georgia during his probation to be with family. Judge Fletcher-Hill had no issues with the request, but said Strawder will have to speak to his probation officer to leave Maryland.
