Jury selection began the afternoon of March 10 in the trial of 22-year-old Antonio Mackey, who stands accused of a broad daylight shooting that occurred last January in downtown Baltimore.
Mackey, who is represented by defense attorney John Deros, is charged with attempted murder, firearm use, assault, reckless endangerment and three more gun offenses in connection to the incident, which occurred Jan. 29, 2025 near the 200 block of Clay Street.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his lower right hip area, and was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment.
Surveillance footage from the area was later recovered, allowing investigators to identify a person said to be Mackey as the suspect through clothing descriptions, a distinct necklace with a circular emblem and a clear view of his facial features.
Proceedings are being held before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry G. Williams, and are scheduled to continue the morning of March 11.
