Suspected Homicide From July Ruled a Self-Inflicted Shooting

The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) announced an update regarding a previously reported incident. The case has been reclassified as self-inflicted and removed from the homicide count.

On July 19, at approximately 2:48 p.m., a Southern District officer was flagged down by a citizen who reported a shooting.

Officers entered a residence on the 1500 block of Olmstead Street, where they located 64-year-old Dennis Dorsch suffering from a gunshot wound to his extremity. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives initially assumed control over the investigation.
