A Baltimore City jury was unable to reach a verdict in the case of Darius Williams, prompting Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland to declare a mistrial on Oct. 7.
Williams, 38, is charged with second-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon with intent to injure for his alleged involvement in the June 25, 2020 fatal stabbing of Eric Jones, 49. Jones was struck more than 20 times on the 2300 block of Westwood Avenue following a dispute between himself and Williams.
During reception court on Oct. 8, the case was set for a retrial on Oct. 31 to allow counsel time to review their availability.
Williams is represented by defense attorney Allison Eisen. The court noted that the defendant’s first-degree murder charge was reduced to a lesser included offense, and a plea offer of 40 years, suspending all but 20, was re-extended to the defense.
