A Baltimore man accused of fatally shooting Tyree Lee, 39, near Northwest Baltimore’s Wallington and Penhurst Avenues on March 27, 2019, received a December trial date before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland on Sept. 5.
Lorenzo Thomas, 49, is charged with first- and second-degree murder, conspiracy, firearm use in a felony crime of violence, and three gun violations for his alleged involvement in Lee’s murder. Thomas was found guilty on May 30, 2023 of first- and second-degree murder, as well as illegal firearm possession. A year and a half later, on Dec. 26, 2024, the Appellate Court of Maryland remanded the case.
Defense attorney Brandon Taylor noted during the hearing that a defense motion to limit evidence presented at trial was previously overturned at a prior hearing, and requested a date to renew the motion.
Parties are slated to reconvene on Dec. 10 before Judge Barry G. Williams for a six-day trial following review of Taylor’s motion.
