On June 30, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Yvette M. Bryant overheard a defense motion for postponement in the case of 42-year-old Marcus Lilly.
Lilly is charged with three counts each of attempted first and second-degree murder as well as first-degree assault. He also faces numerous firearm charges in relation to an incident that occurred the evening of Oct. 16, 2024, on the 3500 block of West Caton Avenue.
Defense attorney Michael Tomko brought the postponement motion forward after he received new evidence on short notice last week, citing a need for further review time. Both parties declared intent to file a motion to join Lilly’s case with a co-defendant’s for trial.
The case was sent for scheduling to Judge Melissa K. Copeland, who accepted the postponement request and scheduled the trial for Nov. 12.
Judge Copeland previously found good cause to exceed Lilly’s speedy trial deadline of May 20.
