Parties reached a plea agreement in the non-fatal shooting case of Donmaria Chase before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Kimberly C. McBride on June 18.
Chase, 54, was initially charged with firearm possession with a prior felony conviction, possession of a firearm in relation to controlled dangerous substances, discharging a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition in connection to an incident last December.
As part of the plea deal, Chase was sentenced to one year in prison, suspending all but time served, for the charge of firearm possession with a prior felony conviction. For firearm possession with a prior felony conviction, she received one year of unsupervised probation.
According to charging documents, on Dec. 17, 2024, Chase was in her residence in the 5000 block of Pembridge Avenue when she heard a crashing noise, which she mistook for a burglary. She advised that after her dogs grew rowdy, she grew fearful and fired three rounds at the back door of her residence.
Responding officers did not immediately charge Chase, but subsequently arrested her after discovering she was barred from owning firearms due to prior felony convictions.
No further hearings are scheduled in this case.
