Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Nicole Barmore postponed Garry Morris’ disposition hearing on June 3 after Morris and his defense attorney, Mary Lloyd Patton, requested an in-person hearing.
Morris, 25, showed up via Zoom, unbeknownst to Patton. Patton argued that since he could be facing life in prison for his conviction, he deserves to be sentenced in person.
Patton also noted Morris had not undergone a pre-sentence interview, which would help the court determine an appropriate sentence, thus he should not be sentenced at this time.
She requested a postponement of 30 to 60 days, but neither Judge Barmore nor the attorneys could figure out a date that would work. Though counsel ultimately reached an agreement for a new hearing date, case files have not yet been updated to reflect the scheduling change
Morris was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder charges for his involvement in the fatal 2022 drive-by shooting of Amare Burrus, 20, in the block of 4200 Pimlico Road. His two co-defendants, 23-year-old Wesley Lambert and 25-year-old Darrean Fleming, were sentenced this year in May and March, respectively.
