On Jan. 20, the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) upgraded a Northwest District shooting investigation to a homicide.

On Jan. 18, at approximately 6:55 p.m., Northwest District Officers responded to the 5600 block of Groveland Avenue for a reported shooting.

Officers located 59-year-old Brian Reed suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Due to the severity of Reed’s injuries, homicide detectives responded to the scene.

Preliminary information indicated a verbal dispute occurred prior to the shooting. A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene.
