Police Apprehend Suspects in 11 of 39 Homicide and Shooting Incidents in August

Of the 39 homicide and non-fatal shooting incidents in August, the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) has arrested suspects in 11 of those incidents.

According to Baltimore Witness data, there were 17 reported homicide incidents in August.

Baltimore Witness data shows that five homicides occurred in the Southwestern district in August, the most of any other district. The Eastern, Southern and Western districts reported three homicides a piece.

Apprehended suspects include 25-year-old Christopher Boykin for his alleged involvement in a Southeast District non-fatal shooting on the 500 block of North Curley Street. He is scheduled to appear at the Baltimore City Circuit Court on Sept. 30.

Police also apprehended 51-year-old Johnnie Teague, the guardian of  16-year-old Jibreal Payne who died from injuries, including burn marks on his body, that he sustained on Jan. 27. Teague is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at the Baltimore District Court on Sept. 24.
