Club Security Guard Shooting Case Postponed

The scheduling hearing for a security guard allegedly involved in a Pratt Street shooting was continued in Baltimore City Circuit Court on Aug. 2.

Larry Gordon Jr., 24, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use in a felony violent crime and using a firearm within Baltimore City in connection to shooting outside of Club Bellissimo on the 1000 block of East Pratt Street on July 16, 2023.

During a hearing before Judge Melissa K. Copeland, Gordon’s defense attorney, Warren A. Brown, was not present due to personal reasons, so a stand-in defense attorney represented him.

Because the stand-in defense attorney was not able to commit to a date without speaking to Brown, Judge Copeland continued the hearing to Monday, Aug. 5. Judge Copeland said she would like to schedule Gordon’s trial for October, as opposed to counsel’s previously agreed upon dates in November.

Additionally, the prosecution said that they believed the case could be resolved outside of court.

According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, Gordon, who was a security guard working outside of Club Bellissimo restaurant and lounge in Little Italy, was allegedly threatened by two men who had previously been in the club.

Gordon believed one of the men had a gun and his sidearm was inadequate, so he went back into the club to get another pistol. When he returned, multiple shots were fired at him and he allegedly fired back, striking one of the men.
