A 36-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of a 36-year-old man on Dec. 17, 2021.
The Baltimore Police Department reported the arrest of a repeat violent offender Arthur McCaden, 36, exactly four months after the incident on the 1300 block of W. North Avenue around 7:49 p.m. for a shot spotter alert, where they found Derrick Smith, 36, unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshots. Officers also found three additional victims suffering from non-life threatening gunshots to the body.
The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he died shortly after.
On February 23, investigators tracked down McCaden in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, where McCaden was apprehended while committing a larceny in a convenience store.
Following his arrest on April 19, McCaden was transported Central Booking, where he was charged with first degree murder.
