A 31-year-old man accused of a non-fatal shooting had a trial rescheduled for September on Feb. 1 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn

Antonio Janifer  is charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, two counts of second-degree attempted murder, three counts of first-degree assault, attempted armed robbery, first-degree burglary, home invasion, four counts of use of a firearm during a violent crime, two counts of attempted carjacking, two counts of a fired gun within Baltimore city, reckless endangerment, resist/interfere with arrest, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, having a handgun in a vehicle, having a handgun on his person, four counts of carrying a handgun within 100 yards of the public, illegal possession of ammo, and six counts of a traffic violation in connection to an incident on May 26, 2020.

Trial was postponed due to the suspension of jury selection with the rise of COVID-19 cases.

According to ABC Baltimore, an officer tried to pull over Janifer, 29, who was driving erratically. Janifer sped away, and the officer drove after him. Janifer then got out of his car and started running away on the 900 block of Light Street, and a foot chase ensued. Janifer turned and shot the officer in the abdomen, leaving him with non-life threatening injuries.

Janifer was represented by defense attorney David Shapiro.

Janifer’s trial is scheduled for Sept. 14 with Judge Cynthia H. Jones presiding.
